Our main goal was to build extension, integrating main system functionality and AI features that would give competitive advantage for dispatchers using our tool over others.

Our problem
Our problem
The extension was started building without designer, only with developers, so the UX, design and information architecture was suffering.

Solution
Solution
Therefore, the company decided to invest in design and I was the first designer hired.
My plan was to redesign design extension from scratch. In this case study I'll demonstrate my approach to design and design thinking, and show how we've designed one of the extension main features โ email communication

Integrating metrics
Integrating metrics
One of the first things I've done was that integration and tracking data with Amplitude.
It helps to understand our progress (or regress), user behaviour and define success measures

User interviews
User interviews
When making product and design decisions I relied not only on the quantitive data from Amplitude, but on qualitative information from user interviews
During the 4 months, I've made interviews with over 30 users, gathering and implementing their complaints and suggestions

I've also built and continuously updated the CJM and the flow of our user in different scenarios.
It helps to understand the journey from high level, define UX bottlenecks and discover opportunities.

Iterative design
Iterative design
While designing one of the core features of the Chrome extension โ Email Communication โ we went through several rounds of iteration.
I designed each version based on team input and user feedback, creating interactive prototypes and testing them continuously to ensure the solution aligned with user needs and the Jobs To Be Done (JTBD) framework.

Team collaboration
Team collaboration
One of the most important parts of my approach was team collaboration. I initiated and conducted more than 10 workshops, several 1:1 sessions and focus groups with stakeholders, and tested many features through quick corridor testing with team members. I also initiated over 15 user interviews on the client side together with our team.
I collaborated effectively with team members across different functions โ we regularly shared insights and updates during sprint ceremonies and communicated closely in product trios, keeping everyone aligned and connected throughout the process.

Final design
Final design
Through various iterations and testing many rounds me and my fellow designer have successfully completed a final design and rolled it out.
We've also built and integrated a bunch of new features as:
One-click email
AI email
Smart filters
Factoring check
Profitability calculator
Recent Bookings
Email templates
Google Maps
AI calls
and much more

Impact
Impact
Qualitative:
We were able to build extension and roll it out 0->1
I've built our design system according to Atomic design framework, with atoms, molecules and organisms
Clear and intuitive UX, matching accessibility requirements
Lots of positive feedback in Chrome Store and in the post rollout interviews from users
Quantitative:
1000+ active weekly users
Up to 500 downloads per day
Up to 3000 emails sent with extension per day

Reflections & Learnings
Reflections & Learnings
This was the first time I've participated in building design for Chrome extension. I've learned about technical constraints of extensions, as well as a lot about trucking industry and its huge potential.
Besides, that was the first time I've designed flow for the motion video (see in the beginning). Each project is an opportunity to grow.
I believe in LoadOps and proud of the work we've done together. I keep watching its successes.
